Meet Afton Macaione, LMT

Afton was born and raised in Houston. As a kid, she was never really into organized sports, but was very active - always climbing, swimming, jumping, running, biking, and playing outside. From an early age, she was fascinated by the human body and what it can do.

After high school, she gave university a go and while she made good grades and was always near the top of her class, she was not happy. After taking a year off to figure out what she wanted her life to look like, she realized that the things that were most important to her were helping people and working with her hands. Enter massage therapy - a career that would allow Afton to help people, not sit at a desk all day, and use her love of science and the human body! She fell in love with massage on the first day of school and has loved it every day since. Afton graduated from Phoenix School of Massage and Holistic Health in May of 2013, passed the MBLEx exam, and received her massage therapy license. In October of the same year, she completed training to be a certified yoga instructor. She completed extensive glass fire cupping training in the fall of 2019.

In her own daily life, Afton is passionate about movement. She loves rock climbing, going for long meandering bike rides, hiking, and anything else that lets her get outside and move her body in fun ways. Outside of work, her hands are always busy climbing or playing guitar or violin. In short, Afton understands what it means to live an active life. Whether her client is someone recovering from an injury, training for a big race, or just looking for some help with the aches and pains that come with living, Afton always strives to keep them up and running.

In her current practice, Afton uses massage therapy, cupping therapy, stretching instruction, and her extensive knowledge of functional anatomy to work with her clients. She thoroughly enjoys keeping up with the latest research in her field and is always excited to learn something new about the human body. She is certified in prenatal massage, corrective exercise and is working on several more certifications to better be able to help her clients feel their best.
